Next time I’ll have a more witty or lyrical blog post for ya. This one is sponsored by 5 hours of intermittent sleep, coffee, and no shower since yesterday morning. Who wants to be my friend?!
We were at the pediatrician’s on Monday, and in the last two weeks Little Bug has only gained 4 ounces. My heart sank a little when I saw the number on the scale. Babies gain about an ounce per day at this age, and while she probably won’t do that, she should be a lot closer to that number than she is. We go back on Friday, and I’m waiting for her cardiologist to get back to me. Not sure what the next step will be. I’m guessing more lasix or maybe even introducing another medication. It’s a little disheartening to think of all that work and only having 4 more ounces to show for it. On the other hand, at least she didn’t lose weight.
In the meantime, I’m trying to do as much as I can to help her be more comfortable so she’s not burning calories unnecessarily. She got a prescription for an antacid which has made a world of difference. Considering how comfortable and happy she is now after her bottles, she definitely has acid reflux. Poor thing used to squeal, cry, squirm, arch her back, and fuss after eating. All of that is gone now. I also bought one of those swanky 4moms Momaroo swing/seats, and holy cow. M-A-G-I-C. I can actually put her down in it and she doesn’t lose it! She hated, hated, hated the swing. Go figure. I think she likes the finer things in life.
My 2-year-old is home now because daycare is dealing with an outbreak of scarlet fever. Uh, yeah, no thanks. His last day was going to be this Friday anyways. I stayed at my parents’ for a day until we knew he wasn’t getting sick, so today is my first day home with both kiddos. I made it until 10:45 before putting in a Veggie Tales to keep him contained. Not bad, right?
In other news, it’s beautiful outside and if the stars align after naptime, we’re going on a walk. This means I should change out of my PJ pants. Or maybe I’ll just brush my teeth. #goals
